Jitendra Soni shares his views with Asian Legal Business
Our Partner, Jitendra Soni, recently shared his thoughts on the changes introduced by the Draft Digital Personal Data Protection Rules, 2025, with Nimitt Dixit from Asian Legal Business, a Thomson Reuters publication.
The cover story, titled "India's Privacy Puzzle," explores how the Draft Data Protection Rules aim to safeguard privacy rights while granting extensive governmental discretion and imposing stringent compliance requirements. On the topic of mandatory data breach notifications and reporting requirements, Jitendra discusses the practical implications that may arise for data principals.
“Such frequent reporting could make it difficult for data principals to distinguish between minor incidents and significant threats, thereby reducing the effectiveness of the breach notification mechanism... Moreover, the lack of prioritisation could place an undue burden on organisations, diverting resources away from managing more critical breaches,” Jitendra explains.
