Armaan Patkar

Armaan is a Partner in the Firm’s Corporate and M&A, Private Equity & Venture Capital practice. Armaan has over nine years of post-qualification experience. He has advised corporates, private equity funds and investment firms on a variety of complex cross-border and domestic transactions. 

His deal experience includes public M&A and strategic transactions, and his sector experience includes financial services, SaaS, digital media, technology, technology platforms, onling gaming, energy and genomics. He has also advised clients on securities and financial regulatory advisory mandates, including handling regulatory disputes and settlement proceedings with SEBI and RBI. 

He is also the author of the book, Insider Trading: Law & Practice, a commentary on the law of insider trading in India.

Armaan was previously a senior associate at AZB & Partners, Mumbai and has also worked at Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas, Mumbai.

  • AIA on its INR 410 crore investment in Indusind Bank.
  • Tilden Park on its INR 2250 crore anchor investment in Yes Bank in its further public offering.
  • TOTAL on its INR 5152 crore acquisition of 37.4% stake and joint control over Adani Gas Limited and the resulting takeover offer.
  • Reliance Industries on its INR 5700 crore acquisition of the digital media platform ‘Saavn’ from and the combination of ‘Saavn’ and ‘Jio music’ platforms.
  • Carlyle on its INR 100 crore sale of 26% stake in Allsec Technologies to Quess Corp.
  • Aditya Birla on its distressed assets co-investment platform and joint venture in Aditya Birla ARC with Varde Partners.
  • Edelweiss on its INR 500 crore investment by Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec (CDPQ) of 20% stake in Edelweiss ARC.
  • Kotak Mahindra Bank on its dispute with RBI relating to promoter shareholding in the bank, including advising on qualified institutions placements, issue of perpetual non-cumulative preference shares and the USD 1 billion promoter stake sale.
  • Reliance Industries in respect of its securities fraud and market manipulation dispute with SEBI relating to its INR 5000 crore sale of stake in Reliance Petroleum.
